Stroke patient advisory panel

The aim of this group is to give a stronger voice to patients, enabling them to influence decision making via the Network Board and with their support to ensure the improvement of stroke services.  This group is also key to the ongoing implementation of the new London stroke pathway within this network.

Current focus

This panel is developing an evaluation of the London stroke model from the perspective of North Central London patients. This project intends to recruit volunteers who have had a stroke to interview people in the stroke units about their experience. The interviews will be based around a set of objectives that the London stroke model was intended to address.

It is hoped to engage a number of the volunteers may also be interested in continuing to provide input into service development within the Network.

Recent work

The panel has been instrumental in ensuring the commissioning of stroke navigator services across the five boroughs through their influence at the network board. They have also played an active role in working with the Life after stroke group to create recommendations for joint working with social services.

If you are a stroke patient or carer and would like to find out more about the work our patient advisory panel is doing, please contact our office on 020 3317 3717 or email  nclcardiacstroke.network@nhs.net.
