►Anti Coagulation in Practice Conference 2012
The 2012 conference programme has been designed to present the latest developments in haemostasis and thrombosis with a focus on the introduction of new anticoagulants. General practitioners, practice nurses, biomedical scientists, health care assistants, pharmacists and patients are all invited to attend.
The conference is being held on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th May 2012 at the Wolfson Centre, Medical School, University of Birmingham.

The University of Birmingham will run two courses in April this year:
Atrial Fibrillation – Detection and Treatment
Thursday 19th – Friday 20th April 2012, Centre for Professional Development, Medical School, University of Birmingham
This two day CPD accredited course aims to provide theoretical and practical knowledge of the condition of Atrial Fibrillation and an update of the management.
An update on primary prevention of CVD: focussing on QOF and supporting behavioural change

This one day CPD course aims to update GP’s, practice & community nurses, dieticians, pharmacists, psychologists and other health care professionals involved in Cardiovascular disease prevention in the community.

►2012 Act FAST Campaign
Act FAST on Stroke 2012 Campaign - launches 27th February 2012. Objectives of the overall campaign are:
*To raise awareness of the symptoms of stroke, with people being able to identify at least one of the leading stroke symptoms within the FAST acronym
*Encourage the public to call 999 immediately if they identify any single one of the leading stroke symptoms.
*Key dates for the advertising are:
TV advertising: February 27th - March 25th
BME (Black Minority Ethnic) radio engagement: March 5th - 18th
